Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
The prostate gland, positioned at the mouth of the bladder, is the male gonad which manufactures a thick fluid that forms part of the semen to produce sperm.
The size of the prostate gradually increases as men grow older. A non-cancerous growth emerges from the prostate tissue, leading to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
This is part of the aging process in men. It results from hormonal changes and is not due to any lifestyle changes or any other external factors.
Although benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) affects more than half of all men over 60 years of age and up to 90% of men over 80 years of age, some men have BPH as early as in their 40s.
Common symptoms
Not every man with BPH experience symptoms. Less than half of all men with BPH do not show any symptoms of the disease.
Common symptoms are:
    。Urgency →Difficulty in postponing urination、
    。Hesitancy →Needing to wait prior to urination、
。Frequency → an increase in the frequency of urination、
。Nocturnal micturition → needing to get up at night to urinate、
    。Weak urine flow、
。A burning sensation or pain while urinating、
。In severe cases, the bladder cannot expel urine, which causes swelling and pain in the lower abdominal area.
What to do if I suspect that I have BPH?
If you notice any of the symptoms as described above, please seek medical treatment right away. If you are diagnosed with BPH, you can deal with it positively by following the advice provided below:
。Avoid drinking large volumes of fluids all at once, or before going to bed、
。Reduce the consumption of spicy foods, limit the intake of alcoholic or caffeinated beverages in order to reduce the chances of a congested prostate、
。Seek media treatment as early as possible if any organ systems such as the urinary tract become infected,
。Do appropriate amount of exercise, keep body healthy so that your physique and immunity may be strengthened 、
    。Take the prescribed medications properly.

reventative Measures
Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a normal physiological process. Although no specific preventative method exists, such an issue needs to be confronted in a positive manner.

If you are 40 years old or above, you should have regular checkups of your urinary system, not only to detect benign prostatic hyperplasia in its early stages, but also to detect and prevent the potential onset of prostate cancer.

Although most of the symptoms of BPH and prostate cancer are the same, the two diseases are, in general, unrelated. Having BPH will not increase your chances of getting prostate cancer.
